Ever wonder how a person actually constructs an item?

So, I used to wonder the same thing too! That is untill I started looking at jewelry and hand-crafted thing a little differently. When I spot something that I like or even when an idea for a project gets into my head, stuff starts getting technical. Crafters are like the architects of art.

For this bracelet ( which has not yet been listed on www.thatsaloadofcraft.etsy.com but will be later this evening. It's a sneak peek ya'll!) I used a 7 inch long chain with wide spaces in between links. I first had to calculate the length of an average wrist (most agree on 7.5 inches, but there is some debate). I then had to subtract the length of the actual clasp and the tag that it attatches to, this left me with 7 inches. Now, I was never good at math I failed almost every class I was in, but jewelry math is a bit easier and much MUCH more fun! I then took tons and tons and ton of large diameter jump rings and used a needle nose pliers to twist them all open. Do Not - open the jum rings by pulling them apart, it weakens the metal and increases the chance of breakage, thereby increasing the risk of a frown for you. I added several japanese seed beads to each ring before slipping the ring through the large gaps in chain links. Then I closed the rings by twisting them shut untill there was no gap between either edge of the jump ring. After that was all said and done I attached the clasp and tag, and poof, it was done.

This was any easy project perfect for beginners, it did use a lot of fine handy work and there was a substantial ammount of time involved in adding beads to jump rings. If you feel up to it, go for it...or you could just buy it from me..heheheee.
